This June we present to you Ra, our 13 year old Angus x Charolais retired cow, 100% grass fed, and happily regeneratively grazed here on the chemical free pastures of Woodhouse Hill, Smeaton.

You've likely never eaten beef of this age as almost all beef in Australia is yearling beef around 1-2 years old.  The flavour of these vintage cows is rich and complex, perfect for slow cooking this winter! Steaks may have a bit more chew to them but we’ve chosen only the most tender cuts for steaks this time round. For those wanting extra tenderness, your cry-vac’ed beef can be wet-aged in your home fridge for up to 2 weeks before cooking.

With the winter chills upon us, I’m looking for to big slow cooked pot roasts (with plenty of leftovers for lunches!), bolognaise and lasagnes with our mince, plus snags and steaks over the campfire!

Retired "vintage" cows such as these are a delicacy in Northern Spain, and are becoming a hit in fancy restaurants down under.  For regenerative farmers like me, eating this beef is a far more ethical way to honour the life of these retired breeding cows, instead of selling them through stressful saleyard channels to be exported as burger mince.  So please try some vintage beef delivered fresh to your door!

Butchering this time will be back with our Ballarat pros at Weightmans Meats.  Your mixed bag will have some slow and quick cooking cuts as always, including mince and gluten-free, preservative-free sausages. 

We believe that minimising food wastage is not only more sustainable, but also honours the life of our produce.  Cooking and eating all parts of an animal is the best (and oh so tasty!) way to achieve this.  

So, each of our beef boxes contain a variety of slow-cooking cuts (eg roasts and gravy beef) and quick-cooking cuts (eg steaks, mince, sausages).  If, however, you have any particular cuts you’d like or not like, let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your request. 

We have four different sizes of beef box available. Once you have selected the size that suits, you can add other ‘add-on’ items to your box. We have a growing range of sustainably and ethically farmed produce available sourced from our own farm and from local suppliers.

Delivery to Daylesford, Creswick and Castlemaine regions - free.

Melbourne:

Delivery to within 10km of CBD - $20 delivery fee.

Pickup from Burwood hub: Free (must pick up 6pm-8pm Thurs 5 June, or 9.30am-2pm Friday 6 June).

Pick up from our farm Woodhouse Hill in Smeaton is also available. Pick up orders will be frozen unless you request otherwise.

We ask that you prepare an esky with ice/ice packs outside your house in case you’re not there at the time we deliver.  All cuts will come cryovac'd, and can be refrigerated for up to two weeks (except mince) before you need to freeze.

We recommend experimenting with wet-ageing your next steak to release your inner gourmand!

Please note that our minimum order is $84.00 (a 3kg beef box). A beef box must be purchased if you wish to add other products to your order.
